Domo arigato
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dōmo arigatō (どうもありがとう?) is a Japanese expression that translates to "Thank you very much." Knowledge of the expression was popularized in the Western world at least in part by the song "Mr. Roboto" by Styx which features the line "Dōmo arigatō, Mr. Roboto." Also the title of an album by the Manchester band Durutti Column
The line has been used as a pop culture reference a number of times, including in the films Austin Powers in Goldmember, Tom Green: Subway Monkey Hour, Kill Bill: Volume I and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, the songs "The King of Bedside Manor" by the Barenaked Ladies, "A shogun named marcus" by Clutch and "This Could Have Been a Dance Revolution; But Now It's Just a Dance" by Rory, the comic strip Brevity by guy & rodd, and cartoons Futurama, The Simpsons and My Life as a Teenage Robot. It is also used in the television shows Scrubs (Turk: "Gimme your pudding! Dōmo arigatō!"), in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation ("Suckers"; Season 4, Episode 13) and in "Hometown Hero", episode 21 of 23, season 2 of NCIS (TV series). List of NCIS episodes
