Domino's Pizza Enterprises (formerly Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand Limited or DPANZ) (ASX: DMP) is an Australian-based multinational pizza delivery franchise company.

Domino's Pizza Enterprises owns and operates more than 650 stores in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Principality of Monaco.[3] The company has a store expansion target of more than 1,600 stores world-wide.[4]

Domino's Pizza Enterprises is the world’s largest franchisee for the Domino’s Pizza brand.[5]

[edit] History

Domino's Pizza Australia began in Red Hill, Brisbane, in 1978 as Silvio's Dial-A-Pizza, established by brothers Silvio and Fel Bevacqua. Silvio's Dial-A-Pizza began Australia's first home delivery service in 1980. By 1993, Silvio's had over 70 locations. In 1993, Silvio's bought the master franchise for the international Domino's brand in Australia and New Zealand. Between 1995 and 1996, all of the Silvio's and Domino's groups merged and Silvio's was re-branded as Domino's. [6]

On Monday, 18 December 2006 it was announced that Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand would change its name to Domino's Pizza Enterprises to reflect its global reach.[7]

In January 2007, it was reported by The Sydney Morning Herald that Domino's Pizza Enterprises had purchased a 17-shop chain in the Netherlands and eight shops in Belgium for an undisclosed amount and comes six months after Domino's Pizza Enterprises purchased the master franchises for the two countries.[8]

As an interesting note, the original Silvio's telephone number[citation needed]- 131 888 - is still the Australian national number for ordering a Domino's pizza for home delivery.
