From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Domingo Amestoy was a Basque banker, one of the original founders to provide the financing for the historic Farmers and Merchants Bank in downtown Los Angeles, California, in 1871.

For his contributions to Los Angeles, Amestoy Avenue in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles was named in his honor. Amestoy Avenue runs North-South through the neighborhoods of Encino, Reseda, and Northridge, from Ventura Boulevard (interrupted) to the 118 Freeway (approximately 7 miles).
