"Dominion" is an episode from Season 10 of the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1.
[edit] Plot
Because Adria is able to sense deception within others, SG-1's plan to capture her involves using Vala as bait, and implanting false memories, therefore making Vala believe the scenario created, and Adria falling for it. They lure Adria to a planet using the implanted memory of the "Clava Thassaras Infinatus". SG-1 awaits in hiding, and have set up anti-Prior devices to stop her using her powers. However, Ba'al's Jaffa appear via beaming technology. They surround SG-1 and capture Adria.
Shortly there after, Ba'al and Adria exchange words (he has also found a means to disable her powers). He reveals that he is going to take control of her armies, and shows her the Symbiote that she is to become "Very Well Acquainted" with. SG-1 rescue her (killing a Ba'al clone), but it is too late. Ba'al has already taken control of Adria and he attempts to talk the Tau'ri into letting him go, offering the information that the Ori are truly dead. He promises more information, but this is merely a ruse to give him time to overcome the anti-Prior device. He threatens to kill Adria should the removal of the symbiote be attempted.
The Tok'ra try to remove Ba'al, planning to implant a Tok'ra symbiote in an attempt to make the Ori army leave the galaxy. Things don't go according to plan, however, as Ba'al releases a nerve toxin into her bloodstream, leaving Adria on her deathbed, too weak to be blended with the Tok'ra symbiote. The Tok'ra and Tauri decide to kill her while she is unconscious, but she wakes and stops them, throwing the Tok'ra guards and Daniel across or out of the room.
Knowing that she is dying, Adria seals herself in the infirmary with Vala. Using her Ori telekinetic powers to hold the doors closed, she begins preparations for ascension. Mitchell and Teal'c attempt to cut their way in, but are distracted by Adria releasing coolant into the corridor where Daniel is trapped. Vala attempts to kill Adria with one of the guards' guns, but is lifted into the air by Adria's telekinetic powers, allowing her to complete the ascension process uninterrupted.
SG-1 is left speculating whether the Ori are dead as Ba'al said, thereby leaving all their former power to Adria, or whether Adria has joined them in their crusade. Vala however points out that, whether or not the Ori are still alive, they have dealt a heavy blow to the invading armies by depriving them of their leader.
[edit] Notes
- This episode marks the death of many of Ba'al's clones, though Mitchell points out that one or more may have survived.
- Ba'al claims the Ori are dead, Adria states otherwise, thus there is still no certainty if Daniel's plan in "The Shroud" succeeded or not.
- The Odyssey is now capable of cloaking at any time.
- Adria ascends, and if the Ori really were destroyed, may possess all the power that the Ori previously had.
- When the bar patrons pull guns on Vala in the opening scene, several of the gun props are recognisable as Pulse Pistols, from Farscape. Claudia Black was one of the stars of that series.
- Lt. Col. Mitchell uses a H&K G36K as his main weapon again. Lt. Col. Carter also uses this while aboard Ba'al's Ha'tak.
- The episode marks the first reappearance of the Tok'ra since season eight and the death of Jacob Carter/Selmak, beyond passing references.
- This episode reveals that anti-Prior technology and symbiote poison are among the technology Ba'al has taken from the Tau'ri during his time on Earth.
- Adria's defence shield necklace is removed by Ba'al during her imprisonment.
- Now that Adria is ascended, she cannot interfere in the milky way galaxy anymore, because the ancients will stop her.
