[edit] Powers
Dolores Winters was an actress of the silver screen and had no powers.
Delores Winters is a businesswoman with a staff that includes a former assistant to the Ultra-Humanite, giving to herself the same power of brain-transfering in new, younger bodies. With the assistance of her medical equipment she's able to graft into herself, or her clients, metahuman body parts. Icemaiden's skin gave her partial mastery over ice and cold.
[edit] History
[edit] Pre-Crisis Earth-2
According to the 1980s retcon series All-Star Squadron, by late 1939 Dolores Winters was a famous movie actress who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Ultra-Humanite, reduced to a dying invalid after a serious battle with Superman, needed a new human body into which to transfer his brain. His gang had orders to find that body, but due to a mishap and lack of time before the villain would die, they delivered a terrified Miss Winters. The surgeons performed the surgery with success - success for the villain but death for the actress. This was the end of the real Dolores Winters. (A*S 21, May 1983)
[edit] Post Infinity Crisis
The person of Delores Winters was introduced in January 2007 in the pages of JSA Classified (#19-20). Her story was similar to that of Dolores but it did not end on the Ultra-Humanite's operating table. Her brain did not die as did Dolores', it found a home in a new body, courtesy of one of the brain surgeons. A scientist-villain of the Ultra-Himanite's entourage, feeling sorry for the young actress, took away her discarded brain, placing it into the recently deceased body of a suicidal woman, dull and unattractive. Feeling hideous, the former beauty queen begged her saviour to restore her good looks and feminine charme. So she began a long series of painful cosmetic surgical operations, harvesting the necessary body parts (starting with her teeth) from wherever she could.
Even after having fully restored her beauty, looking at the wrinkles building on her face, and realizing that time had passed, she decided something drastic: kidnapping a young relative and replacing her own brain with hers, living a new life under a new set of spotlights.
[edit] One Year Later
No longer happy with her now almost perfect body, she began experimenting with metahuman parts. After having seen in a magazine the perfect, spotless, alabaster skin of Icemaiden, she had the former super-hero kidnapped, and she flayed her alive and harvested her superpowered skin. As a way to fund her activities, and gain fame and attention in Hollywood's world, she started a trade of harvested body parts. Though the medical procedures resulted in drastic injuries and maimed psyches (like when she took away Peregrine's wings, Grogamesh's arms, Argus' eyes and Godiva's hair) she did not seem to be troubled by this. Eventually Dr. Mid-Nite managed to take back some of the stolen body parts, and cripple her organization, but Delores, now calling herself Endless Winter used her powers to escape.
