From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dog Scouts of America is a non-profit organization. It started in 1995 to make dogs' lives better. You earn over 60 different badges with your dog once you pass the basic test. The basic test includes sit, down, stay, come, and leave it.

[edit] Badges

Some of the badges include:

  • Backpacking
  • Teaching Your Dog to Swim
  • Teaching your Dog to Paint
  • Picking up 500 bottles
  • And much more

You get your badges by sending in a video, going to a Dog Scout camp, or going to a Dog Scout troop in your local area.

[edit] Jr. Dog Scout Program

The Jr. Dog Scout Program is for children up to 16. The first category,6 and under, is when you get a certificate. To get this you must know dog safety rules and how to pick up your dog's excriments. For 7-12 year olds, you do the same thing as to get the adult's badge, except you may use a treat for down and stay and come are from a 4-foot leash for 10 seconds. For 13-16 year olds, you may not use a treat for down and stay and come must be from a 6-foot leash for 20 seconds.
