I've pruned List of agnostics significantly, retaining only verified agnostics. Could I persuade you to change your vote from "delete" to "keep"?

Vandals

And people think the vandals are winning!

  • Those two bad guys are now int he phantom zone for a time. But we really need to get these open proxies - I'm not confident enough to indef block. --Doc ask? 00:38, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
    • Who are the IPs registered to? Prodego talk 00:40, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Lupin and Nuffy8 have got them all. --Doc ask? 00:44, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

  • That wasn't too hard. Thanks Prodego talk 01:02, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
  • All done - but I'm off to bed now, so you'll have to use WP:AIV (or better still #wikipedia-en-vandalism if you have IRC). Just tag speedies as vandalism deletions and they'll go soon enought. --Doc ask? 01:16, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

I hate WP:AIV it takes way too long. Good night. Prodego talk 01:17, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, AIV is weak, as I said - IRC is really the best option - there's nearly always admins on-line there. --Doc ask? 01:21, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Valhalla yearbook

look I understand where your coming from but 1) please WP:AGF when I clean my talk page. 2) A consensus of around 50+ users was reached on IRC before I deleted that page. We discussed it for almost 20 minutes before I deleted it. We felt that it was a slight stretch but did actually fall under CSD > Articles > #7. which is for VANITY in general not merely bio vanity.  ALKIVAR 02:16, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

I was not assuming bad faith in your immediate deletions of my messages - my annoyance was that you didn't reply to my messages before doing so, but simply dismissed my points in your edit summaries. Cleaning your talk page is your prerogative (although removing messages within hours is unusual) - ignoring a legitimate request to discuss your admin decisions is bound to frustrate.
On the substantive point, it is a pity junk like this isn't speediable, but it simply isn't. No way is it a 'slight stretch' to extend nn-bio to a yearbook. If we go down your route than we are saying A7 means 'anything the deleting admin views as non-notable', and there is no chance of that being acceptable to the community. As I say, IRC is fine for some second opinions on a borderline, but consensus to delete is reached in AfD and not IRC. Since the article in question was already being discussed on AfD and sure to be deleted, I fail to see why you wanted to waste 20 min discussing it on IRC anyway. Anyway, I'll let this drop now, but please do not extend A7 non-bios in future. Doc ask? 11:17, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Fair enough, the poster of the AFD initiated the conversation on IRC btw.  ALKIVAR 15:32, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
OK, I'm satified with that. You've noted my concerns, and that's all I was asking. Peace. --Doc ask? 16:18, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Psy guy's RfA

Doc, Thanks for supporting my RfA. It recently closed with final tally of 51/1/2. I sincerely appreciate it and I hope I can live up to your expectations. I will try my best to be a good administrator. If you ever need anything, just let me know. Thanks! -- Psy guy (talk) 05:39, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Avoiding agro

Frankly, I'm practically prepared to say "Fuck Wikipedia" altogether. Thanks for the post, but I think an RfC against me is bullshit, and I have no intention of responding to any such action. I do not perceive most (if any) of the links you refer to as egregiously uncivil, and I object to being singled out in these debates, given the tidal wave of chronic incivility that takes place in the school debates. An RfC opened on me is just hypocrisy.--Nicodemus75 15:57, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

You around?

Hey, are you around? I saw your post on RFA, and I was wondering if I could talk to you about something on IRC. Don't worry about this if you're getting it after a few hours after posting, though. - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 16:59, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Noisy Channel

Doc, given the comments on IRC earlier I've posted on the CVU talk page to see what can be done, can you add any of the ideas I missed/forgot. --Pgk 21:21, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Jose Cortez

Looks like we crossed over while I was editing/you were deleting. I've recreated the article as I was editing it. I'm not certain what the criteria is for individual NFL player entries are but he has a 6 year career for whatever that's worth. Probably no longer a speedy deletion, but might need to go to AFD, depending on precedent. exolon 23:54, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

No problem - I was only deleting an obvious 'no assertion of notability'. If it asserts it now, I'll leave it for others to decide. --Doc ask? 23:57, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Continues

user:Questor2 still going on even after your warning. 6 times revert. :O --a.n.o.n.y.m t 23:59, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Looks like he's playing nice and talking now. I was AGF and assuming that as a new account he didn't know about the 3RR, he stopped reverting 2min after my warnign, which is fair enough. Let me know if he flares up again. --Doc ask? 00:27, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

List of people described as neoconservatives

(Must... not... do... Bugs... Bunny... "Eeee, what's up, Doc?"... Doh!)

Just thought I'd like to mention that your edit to this list fell foul of what you were cautioning against ("please do not assume that govt offices are US by default".) You edited the list to say that Stephen Harper is a US politician, when he is in fact Canadian. It's better to leave something unspecified than to make assumptions which leave the article wrong. -- AJR | Talk 16:51, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

My bad. But the article did presume that every mention of president, senate, defence secretary was US. I got annoyed, because WP articles do that far too often - they assume that US is the default and only 'foreigners' need to be specific. --Doc ask? 23:31, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Your sig

You should be aware (unless it's intentional!) that your sig is pointing to Doc, not to Doc. —Cryptic (talk) 23:02, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Cryptic, no that is a mistake - now fixed. --Doc ask? 23:29, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting me for adminship. The RfA passed today. I look forward to working with you to make Wikipedia a better place. --Nlu 03:24, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

advertising?

Hello, international-kendo.com is not my site, it is a site I found that I think, as a practicioner of kendo, has a lot of good information. It was not meant as an advertising scheme. Please send me back a message.

No problem. its ok, I understand that with a site this big, checking every last detail is not possible and I am amazed that you manage to respond to people who leave messages on your page :) So, can I post them on the other sites too? or should I just not bother. The thing is that I stumbled upon the site yesterday and it was completely blank and in about an hour the webmaster or ?webmastress? added an amazing amount of actual information and I feel that in a few days or so this site may be a very big source for information.

Could you name a few editors? The reason I was posting it in those different subject is that Kendo, Kumdo, and Kenjutsu are essentially the same thing, just different names, however people have the tendency to just search for one and not for others.

Thanks doc :)

AfD The Great Scandal

Good news from your hand. If I don't get eliminated from WP , perhaps I'll find the energy to rectify any lack . I post suggestions as to merging it into the general Rise to Power at the Hitler pages. Thanks. Of course , nothing's over until we can source that which I just asked from the Deutsch end of WP . Help to merge into 'Rise' would be greatly appreciated . EffK 10:11, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hi Doc glasgow,

Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Regards, JoanneB 13:31, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

GraemeL's RFA

Hi Doc glasgow,

I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your support on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I mess up in the use of my new powers. P.S. Come back from your break, we need more Scottish Wikipedians. --GraemeL (talk) 14:43, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

Subtle statistics vandal

Hi Doc. There is an anon user who is making changes to statistics which seem to be intentionally misleading. I have reverted some of them and see that other users have reverted the rest. I noticed that you have already left a block warning on the IP's talk page, so I thought you should know about the continuing problem. Cheers TigerShark 22:58, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hidey poo

Hi! I notice you were kind enough to close this as a speedy. I wanted to nominate it that way, but couldn't quite figure out how to justify that under the procedures I read. What reason could've I used in the speedy tag? Thanks, 16:37, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

When something is obvious childish nonsense (and I don't mean a hoax revealed as such by google research - I mean when one look at the article tells you that it is kids messing about, and there is no possible way anyone will vote keep), there is little point in an AfD. And most admins will stretch the 'patent nonsense' or 'vandalism' categories to cover it.--Doc ask? 16:56, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

Re the Angela Merkel article.

I and other editors have done 7 reversions today, all vandalisms are by different IP's. Must be a hot topic today. Could you take a look since I saw you did one of the reverts because I think it needs admin powers. I hope you are still in. Thanks.--Dakota t e 23:41, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

It's on the frontpage and high profile - so protection is inappropriate - all we can do is keep reverting. cf George W Bush --Doc ask? 23:43, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

Your work reverting vandalism of user pages (by 83.31.171.2 in this case)

Just a message to say thanks it was appreciated. Pretty sure User:83.31.171.2 is User:BrandonYusufToropov using an anon proxy, the writing style's the same.

Accusations of me being a sockpuppet

From User_talk:BrandonYusufToropov:

"User:Chaosfeary is most definitely Enviroknot. I will try to get some people to look at his account soon.Yuber(talk) 16:28, 26 November 2005 (UTC)"

This isn't true, I have never had another Wikipedia account, this is the only one I've had - I hope my IP is not going to be shared with potentially dangerous fanatics like Yuber, who is currently blocked from editing Syria (see his talk page) for one month from this date for continuing to remove properly sourced and relevant material (trying to constantly enforce Islamist POV on NPOV articles)...

--Chaosfeary 19:55, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Please take this arguement elsewhere, I am NOT interested. --Doc ask? 20:03, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Your edit of Celtic F.C. - List of Celtic Fans

I see you removed most of the "List of Celtic Fans".
Another User: PalX (if I remember right has suggested that this list shouldn't exist at all.
I'm not convinced - I think it adds interest to the page, and there is an equivalend list on Rangers F.C, which no-one has objected too.
Perhaps you removed the list because it wasn't in perfect Wiki format?
Still, if we're gonna have this list, I think some of the names should be there - I mean, "everyone" knows that Billy Connolly is a Celtic Fan....

Reverting User:137.155.194.38's edit

I hope you don't take it too personally, but after s/he complained for having received the {{test3}} message on her/his user page, I have made some critical comments on your choice to revert the above user's edit to Sex (disambiguation) which, IMO, was clearly not vandalism, to which test3 clearly refers to. You also used test3 when the user had not received {{test2}}. In some situations this may be appropriate, in this situation it was clearly not. Please see my full comments at User talk:137.155.194.38. (Although you have a rollback button [and I don't], your use of the standard edit summary for borderline reversion was inappropriate.) jnothman talk 02:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
