The correct title of this article is documenta 5. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

documenta 5 was the documenta exhibition in Kassel during June-October 1972 under the title "Befragung der Realität – Bildwelten heute" (Questioning Reality – Pictorial worlds today) [1].

It is the documenta which is believed to have had the highest impact onto modern arts from all the documenta exhibitions that took place. It has been said to have "set forth a radical change in the production of art and started effective discussions on concepts and theories" [2]

Harald Szeemann, the artistic director, tried to have a high impact on society with this exhibition, inviting socially active artists like Joseph Beuys to interact with the visitors of the exhibition. Also, the exhibition tried to ask the question what art is and therefore also showcased "trivial art" considered kitsch by many.
