[edit] History

DNO was founded in 1971 and was the first Norwegian oil company to be listed on Oslo Stock Exchange. In 1974 the company receives its first revenue though its interest in the Heather field on the British continental shelf. Along with Norsk Hydro, Saga Petroleum and Statoil DNO is one of four Norwegian companies to be awarded licences on the Norwegian continental shelf. In 1997 DNO acquires the entire Heather field and becomes operator and a year later DNO entered Yemen. In 2000 DNO reentered the Norwegian sector, acquireing permission to be operator of fields in 2002. In 2003 DNO sold it's British licences to Swedish Lundin Petroleum. This was part of a new strategy of selling mature fields in Norway and Britain and going more into exploration.
