Dmitri Furmanov

Dmitri Furmanov (November 7 (N.S.), 1891— March, 1926) was a Russian writer. During the Russian Civil War he joined the Red Army and served as a Bolshevik commissar. He is well-known for his book Chapayev about Vasily Ivanovich Chapayev, a Red Army officer and a hero of the Civil War.
In 1941 the town Sereda was renamed Furmanov after him.
Furmanov is buried in Novodevichy Cemetery.
