Divya prabhandam

Divya Prabhamdham or Nalayira(4000) Divya Prabhamdham is a collection of Tamil songs and hymns written on Lord Vishnu by the twelve alwars of the Srivaishnava sampradaya. These songs are great works in Tamil literature and date back to years before 3rd century A.D. The songs generally contain 4 lines and is recited in all the vaishnavite temples everyday.
The collection consists of four parts of thousand songs each. The first part is called 'Mudhalairam(First thousand)'.It consists of songs by 'Perialwar' in 'Perialwar thirumozhi(461)',the famous 'Thiruppavai(30)' and 'Nachiyar thirumozhi(143)' by 'Andal','Perumal thirumozhi(105)' by 'kulasekaralwar','Thiruchandaviruttham(120)' by 'Thirumazhisaialwar','Thirumaalai(45)' and 'Thirupalliezhuchi(10)' by 'Thondaradipodi alwar','Amalanadhipiran(10)' by 'Thirupanalwar' and 'Kanninunsiruthaambu(11)' by 'Madurakavialwar'.
The second part consists of works by 'Thirumangaialwar'. These include ' thirumozhi(1084)','Thirukurunthandakam(20)' and 'Thirunedunthandakam(30)'.
The third part is called 'Iyarpa' and contains mostly 'aandhadhis'. Aandhadhis are songs where the last part or word or phrase of a song is the first part or word or phrase of the next song. This section contains 'Mudhal Thiruvandadhi(100)' by 'Poigaialwar', 'eRendam Thiruvandadhi(100)' by 'Boodathalwar', 'Mundram Thiruvandhadi(100)' by 'Peyalwar'.It also contains 'Naanmugan Thiruvandhadhi(96)' by 'Thirumazhisaialwar','Thiruviruttham(100)' 'Thiruvasiriyam(7)', 'Periya Thiruvandadhi(87)' by 'Nammalwar', 'Thiruvazhukuthirukkai(1)', 'Siriya Thirumadal(1)', 'Periya Thirumadal(1)' by 'Thirumangaialwar'.'eRamanusa Nootrandhadhi(108)' by 'Thiruvarangathamudhanar' composed in praise of 'Ramanujar' is also a part of this.
The fourth part consists of 1102 songs called 'Thiruvaimozhi' by 'Nammalwar'.
All these songs sing the praises of Lord Vishnu enshrined in various places all over India and Nepal. The places referred are revered as the holy '108 Divyadesams'.
