Ditellurium decafluoride
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ditellurium decafluoride is a stable, colorless, volatile, heavy liquid. It is prepared by passing fluorine gas over tellurium at a temperature of 50 - 80 °C. Ditellurium decafluoride is made up of two TeF5 units. Melting point: -33.7 °C Boiling point: 59 °C
[edit] Reactivity
Ditellurium decafluoride attacks glass slowly. It is not affected by water, acids, dilute alkali solutions, copper, mercury, nickel, iron, sulfur or selenium. It does react with vigorously with sodium and violently with potassium. It wil also react with organic compounds such as acetone or tap grease.
