Talk:Christmas

With regards to your comments on Talk:Christmas: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Re: Jesus Article

Please read the edit summary, which was very detailed. The article has followed a very specific and well thought-out layout for some time now. Your contributions do not fit within this framework and essentially alter how the article is organized. Out of respect for the collaborative process, such drastic changes should be discussed on Talk so that other editors (such as those who have been involved with the article for years) can discuss and debate such changes, rather than having them made unilaterally. —Aiden 12:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Misuse of templates and 3RR warning

Please do not use the word "vandalism" in edit summaries for edits that you disagree with. If it is not something that you could reasonably report to administrators as vandalism, then it isn't vandalism. Also, please do not use warning templates on established editors. Warning templates are meant as a quick way to make newcomers aware of some policy they may not know about. It's considered very rude to use them on editors who are not new, and it's quite inappropriate to use them in a content dispute. Also, it's nothing short of silly to drop a template on someone's talk page saying "It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from an article", when you know perfectly well from that person's edit summary that he intended to remove the content. The Jesus article is the product of lengthy discussion and collaboration, and anyone who makes drastic changes without going to the talk page first to get consensus is likely to be reverted.

Finally, you are in danger of violating the three-revert rule. Unlike you, I'll be courteous enough not to drop a warning template {{3RR}} on your talk page, but am instead writing a personal message. I'll just suggest that you read that page very, very carefully, because if you revert once more, you will be reported, and may be blocked. Make sure you are completely familiar with that rule. And even if you manage to stay technically within it, it is still bad form to make a substantial change to an article without taking it to the talk page first. Grandad 13:04, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
