[edit] Guide to: Dismissal

[edit] Ned

For students at James K. Polk Middle School who ride the buses home, there is an 11-minute period between the final bell and the buses' departure. Anything last minute must be done within this period. For Ned, this includes making sure he has his jacket, books, and tips to take home with him for the day. He uses a daily checklist to make sure he has all of these things.

On this day, though, Ned is in for a surprise. He opens his locker to find that his girlfriend, Suzie, has moved in, with her tiny stuffed animals all tacked to a long board on the door. Apparently, they had discussed this the day before. Ned's list and other things have been moved to their "vacation locker" upstairs. When he gets to the vacation locker, Ned can't find his tips or his science book. Gordy comes along, and writes, "Be a man" onto Ned's list, telling him to assert himself and to tell Suzie that he needs his space.

Ned returns to the locker downstairs, and finds his envelope of tips, tacking his list to the door beforehand. He then notices that some are missing, as Suzie found some of them lame and threw them out. Ned goes to the school dumpster to retrieve the missing tips. Gordy arrives to toss in some trash. Ned finds his tips (but later found that Suzie was right and that his tips did stink and were useless), and returns to Suzie in the courtyard, telling her he needs his "man space," and that he doesn't want to share a locker. Suzie hands him his science book, and begins to cry. Ned then feels terrible, and tells her that he was just frustrated, and that her stuffed animals would be put back in their locker. Suzie happily sends him off with a kiss. Inside, Gordy checks "Be a man" off of Ned's list, because he managed to keep Suzie happy.

[edit] Moze

Moze, Missy, and other girls are forced to wait in a long line outside the girls' bathroom upstairs, while all the guys are in and out of their bathroom in a matter of seconds. Coconut Head alerts the girls that the downstairs bathroom has no line, so they rush towards the staircase. Moze is the first one down, but she makes the mistake of slowing down and walking towards the door, causing Missy and the other girls to rush past her and make another line. Moze then gets tired of waiting, and goes into a costume closet, where she changes into leather clothing, with sunglasses and a bandanna on her head. She goes into the boys' bathroom in her disguise, where Cookie and the other boys spot her. She returns to the long line, but then she and Missy lead a revolt against the boys' bathroom (with fake weapons?), and running the boys out. Before grabbing a sword off of the wall, Moze says to the other girls in line, "I have to pee, and I'm not going to take it anymore!" When all the boys have been run out, the girls look at the urinals grossed out, causing Moze to cry, "To the stalls!"

[edit] Cookie

Cookie gets to his bus early to relax, and collect his thoughts. While on the bus he spots his intellectual rival, Evelyn Kwong. Cookie returns to his locker inside to get his science book after being told by Coconut Head that Mr. Sweeney would be giving a pop quiz the next day. After getting his book, Cookie turns around, only to have his and Evelyn's lips lock accidentally. Evelyn chases him into the boys' bathroom, where he hides in a corner, and spots Moze trying to sneak in. He then recruits help from Backpack Boy, who agrees to switch clothes with Cookie. Evelyn quickly spots Cookie escaping, and blocks him on a staircase. Cookie then tries the main entrance, but Evelyn blocks him there, too. Cookie tells Evelyn to bring on her response to their kiss, which she does, but with a kiss of her own instead of a hit. She tells Cookie, "You drive me crazy,", leaving Cookie stunned. Ned and Moze drag a still-stunned Cookie out of the school during the last few seconds before the buses leave.

[edit] Trivia

  • There are numerous posters for the school play "Romeo and Juliet" play, which is performed in the next episode.
  • When Cookie and Evyln accidentally "kiss" for the first time, behind them is a Romeo and Juliet poster for the school play. On it are the words "violence" and "romance", both of which are present in the scene.
  • When Evelyn Kwong blocks the main entrance for Cookie to escape from her, it was exactly 10 seconds before the bus left.
  • Coconuthead is trampled 2 times in this episode.
  • In the last 10 seconds (1 sec. = 3 sec.)

[edit] Goofs

  • Coconut Head states that there is no line for the girls' bathroom downstairs. There is then a line just before Moze can get there. If there is now a line for the bathroom downstairs, she can now use the bathroom upstairs.
  • When Moze's plan to sneak into the boys bathroom fails, she gets back in line, but in her original spot. She probably should have gone to the back of the line.
  • When Gordy checks off 'Be a Man' on Ned's list, the check he makes is upside down.

[edit] Guide to: The School Play

The school's production of Romeo and Juliet has arrived, with Suzie in the role of Juliet. In the role of Romeo is a young boy named Spencer (Corbin Bleu), who keeps trying to make Ned jealous by bragging about their big kiss in the play's famous balcony scene. Ned is working behind-the-scenes on the play, and soon begins scheming to get rid of Spencer so that his understudy could take over.

That understudy happened to be Cookie, who auditioned for the part of Romeo in a hideously overdramatic fashion. His audition ended with him doing the worm.

Ned and Cookie's first attempt to force Spencer out comes at the play's start, when they brighten the lights during one of Romeo's soliloquies. Spencer, blinded, falls off the stage. Intermission is called right away. Cookie offers to take over, until Moze, the stage manager, brings Spencer back to his senses by blowing an air horn in his ear. Spencer retakes the stage. Ned and Cookie then throw two banana peels onto the stage, which Moze blows off with a leaf blower. Next, they try to push a tree onstage into Spencer, until Moze knocks them over by kicking the tree next to her onto them. They then attach a log to the ceiling by way of two wires. They swing the log at Spencer, who is pulled forward by Moze with a long plastic hook. The log knocks Cookie and Ned over.

Ned then recruits Gordy to dress as a Hollywood agent, and convince Spencer that he's ready for the big time. Spencer tries to leave, but Moze, dressed as a teenage fan, convinces him to stay and finish the play out.

Ned and Cookie's final attempt to get rid of Spencer comes in time for the balcony scene. The two dress up as a horse Romeo approaches the balcony with. Ned, wearing the head, begins headbutting Spencer upon approaching Suzie on the balcony. The two battle for a couple of minutes, spinning around to the point that Cookie flies out of the costume, and knocks over the play's director, Mr. Combover. Ned then tries to charge at Spencer, who gets out of the way. Ned knocks down part of the set, injuring Spencer and Suzie. Spencer, Mr. Combover, and Suzie are then wheeled away on stretchers. Ned tries to apologize to Suzie, yet she is really mad and responds by saying, "You are really lucky you're cute!". Moze then makes Ned and Cookie finish the play with Cookie playing Juliet and Ned playing Romeo.

[edit] Goofs

  • During Cookie's audition, his shoe falls off. The camera switches. Then when it goes back to Cookie, his shoe is back on.
  • In Polk's version of Romeo and Juliet, they kiss in the balcony scene when this is not in the play. Also Romeo doesn't bring a horse with him. (See Romeo and Juliet)
  • Everytime something bad happens in the play, they have an "emergancy intermission." But in theator, you will usually improvise during these events.
