Dirtcore

Dirtcore is a form of Heavy Metal that is slowly growing in popularity in the South.
Its sound combines elements of Country Rock, Stoner Metal, Death Metal, Blues-Rock, Emo, Desert Rock, Grunge, Grindcore, Classic Rock, Power Pop, black metal, Celtic Folk Music, Industrial, Folk Rock, Synthpop, Bluegrass, Jam Band, Polka, Hardcore Ragtime, Funk, Contemporary Christian Music and many others.
Its sound has been heavily influenced by artists such as: Norman Greenbaum, ABBA, Nirvana, Slayer, Keith Green, Celtic Frost, Grateful Dead, Dragonforce, The Cure, The Kingsmen, Cyndi Lauper and southwest Virginia band Bludfed. The sound has also been referred to as Hardcore Cowpunk, That Funky White Boy Sound, and Anarcho-Roots.
The artists and fans frequently practice anarchism or socialism. They are also known for wild stage antics such as wearing dresses or playing entire shows in broken Spanish.
