In the Transformers: Armada series (called: Transformers: Micron Legend in Japan), Dirt Boss is a Mini-Con. A member of the Race Team (and Road Assault Team when he's evil), he combines with Downshift and Mirage to form the Skyboom Shield.
The Mini-Con Race Team was released in 2002 with a yellow color, while the Road Assault team was released in 2003 with a red color. They appeared in the television series in the yellow color. It was explained in the Dreamwave comics that if a powerful evil Decepticon wields the their combined shield form it can turn the members into the evil Road Assault Team.
[edit] Transformers: Energon
The Road Assault Mini-Con Team was repackaged with the Space Team as a discount six pack of Mini-Cons under the Energon label. These toys were identical to the Armada version.
[edit] Transformers: Universe
The original toy of Dirt Boss was repackaged with a collectible Tiny Tin for the Transformers: Universe toy line. He did not appear in the Transformers: Universe comics.
[edit] Transformers: Cybertron
The original Armada Mini-Con Dirt Boss was repainted packaged with several Deluxe sized Transformers (Landmine and Red Alert) as a bonus item. Oddly enough he was never packaged with the Deluxe sized character named Dirt Boss, perhaps because that would have been confusing.
Dirt Boss' bio described him as having crashed on Earth from another dimension while the rest of his team landed on Velocitron. Searching for aid, he encountered Landmine. In order to prevent Megatron from capturing the Mini-Con for his purposes, Landmine partnered with Dirt Boss, and the two have now formed a close partnership to help Dirt Boss find his teammates and return home.
The bio printed with Red Alert would expand on this. Revealing that he had been sent to Velocitron alongside Red Alert for his own protection to prevent Megatron from creating the Skyboom Shield once again, it still showed that Dirt Boss desired to protect the weak and helpless - and Red Alert.

In the Transformers: Cybertron series (called: Transformers: Galaxy Force in Japan) Dirt Boss (called Inch Up in Galaxy Force) a tough outlaw on [[Velocitron. Dirt Boss deliberately gives the impression that his sheer bulk means he is slow - a misapprehension he soon clears up when he reveals his true speed. He enjoys literally crushing his opponenets into the road.
The Cyber Code Key Info on the Hasbro website reinforced much of this, noting that, in common with most other residents of the Speed Planet, Dirt Boss simply loves to drive. Unfortunatley for anyone who crosses his path, he is also the most vicious and nasty driver on the roads. His Takara tech spec revealed that, as his name suggests, he is one of the best when it comes to traversing bad roads of all kinds. He can also alter his vehicle mode, dropping his ground clearance and increasing his speed. Unfortunatley he has been defeated in a race by Override on numerous occasions.
[edit] Animated series
In the episode Space Dirt Boss was drafted to the Decepticon side by Ransack and Crumplezone to help defeat Override, although he was mostly out for himself.
Dirt Boss quickly found himself racing Hot Shot, who had become enamoured with the local lifestyle. However, Hot Shot was nearly buried when Ransack and Crumplezone took advantage of the race to eliminate a rival andstarted a rockslide. Dirt Boss then entered the qualification rounds for the Planet Cup competition, winning the second by defeating Hot Shot and Override. However, in the final race he was beaten by Hot Shot, losing out on getting the Cup.
After this, Dirt Boss stayed on Velocitron while Ransack and Crumplezone left. He witnessed the attempt of Primus to seal the black hole caused by Unicron's demise. Later, he was one of the army of Transformers that came to battle against Galvatron and his powered up Decepticons as he attempted to use the Cyber Planet Keys to control the black hole. Later, he was one of the Transformers that helped move the rocket controlling the Jungle Planet back into position.
After the eventual defeat of Galvatron Dirt Boss, along with Hot Shot, Ransack, Dark Crumplezone, Brakedown and Clocker, raced in the "Speedia 500" to see who would become the new leader of Velocitron after Override left to join the Space Bridge project. Dirt Boss would lose to Hot Shot.
