Dionísio Castro

Dionísio Silva Castro (born November 22, 1963 in Fermentões-Guimarães) is a former long-distance runner from Portugal, who set the world record in the 20 km on March 31, 1990 clocking 57:18.4. Representing Sporting Clube de Portugal (1984–1998) he won the 1997 edition of the Rotterdam Marathon on April 20, 1997, in a time of 2:07:51.
His twin brother Domingos was also a world class athlete in the long-distance events. The two of them represented their native country at the 1988 (Seoul, South Korea) and 1992 Summer Olympics (Barcelona, Spain).
