The purpose of this page is to hold and store pictures of Pennsylvania state parks for the hopefully soon to be featured list that Ruhrfisch and Dincher are currently working on
[edit] Gallery
F.J. Sayer Lake, Bald Eagle State Park I like it but not sure how clear this is in thumbnail good pic shows park pretty much in full kinda fuzzy |
Bog, Black Moshannon State Park Nice bog, OK picture ditto ON FROG |
Lake at Codorus State Park Very nice picture a keeper ON FROG |
Panorama, Colton Point State Park and Leonard Harrison State Park, I took it, so I'm biased, also technically taken a bit south of the park on West Rim Trail not being actually in park could be a problem with editors, but I think it is an excellent picture. Does it show park lands? ON FROG |
Trees, Cook Forest State Park, I love this picture but think it is DCNR (not US Govt) so not free agreed, wish it was free |
Red eyed vireo nest, Cook Forest State Park, hard to see the bird in thumbnail size agreed, bird is too small |
Forest path, Evansburg State Park A great picture - very Penns Woods-y excellent picture, I like the sunlight ON FROG |
Picnic area, Gifford Pinchot State Park OK might as well scratch it off the list |
Entrance sign, Hills Creek State Park, Two words: Dincher's Mom (seriously, a very typical entrance sign, so worth including) she took it with a "throw away camera", not too shabby |
Lake, dock Hills Creek State Park, decent picture - lots of lakes in PA state parks, so I like it agreed ON FROG |
cabin at Hills Creek State Park, Two words: Dincher's Dad (on porch?) yeah thats him, Mom said he kept wandering into the pictures =) |
Collapsed bridge, Kinzua Bridge State Park Maybe fuzzy |
Old picture of bridge, Kinzua Bridge State Park Prefer modern photos agreed |
Lake from dam at Little Pine State Park A favorite of mine, I took it though a fav of mine too, got stuck by a porcupine at Little Pine when I was a kid ON FROG |
Lake from dam at Locust Lake State Park Decent pic, better if road in foreground not there not the best lake pic in the gallery |
Creek, Lyman Run State Park I would pick this one, like the lighting (plus Dincher's Mom took it and his Dad is in it) lighting is good, Dad was getting a can out of the crick "give a hoot don't pollute" ON FROG |
Entrance sign, Lyman Run State Park I think I like the Hills Creek sign better too fuzzy |
Hells Hollow Falls, McConnells Mill State Park Wow - a keeper, only concern is license is not 100% clear it is a good one, will look at the license ON FROG |
Lake at Nockamixon State Park, OK too much water |
Dam at Nockamixon State Park, OK yeah |
Ohiopyle Falls at Ohiopyle State ParkA good picture that shows the falls, it also shows the forests and geology of PA, very often found in most of the PA state parks. Overall I think this is a keeper I agree, keep this one KEEPER look at the view from the opposite side of the falls in the Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania article, I think its even better ADDED OTHER TO FROG |
Cucumber Falls at Ohiopyle State Park OK - hard to see falls in thumbnail size ditto |
Point State Park at the confluence of the Allegheny and the Mononghela Rivers in Pittsburgh. KEEPER Not all of the Pennsylvania state parks are in remote areas. Here is a picture of Point State Park in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Great picture, a definite keeper I agree fully. ON FROG |
Fort Duquesne outline at Point State Park OK, much prefer city and river view above good for the fort article and Point State Park article not needed for list too specific |
Blockhouse at Point State Park OK, good history, but if one picture per park, prefer city and river view above same as Fort Duke |
Aerial view of Presque Isle State Park Yes, very nice excellent color, look at that blue ON FROG |
Lighthouse at Presque Isle State Park Also very nice, prefer aerial view if one pic per park agreed |
View of Tohickon Creek at Ralph Stover State Park Nice picture, less clear in thumbnail size agreed |
Many of the PA state parks were built and developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. This picture shows an example of their work at Ravensburg State Park. OK, I am biased - too similar to the Ohiopyle falls picture? I had thought about the similarities too, but I do want evidence of CCC work. Maybe the pavilion with the pooch? |
CCC Shelter at Ravensburg State Park OK pic, dog is nice The dog is using the recreational facilities probably had lots of interesting smells ON FROG |
Rauchtown Run in Ravensburg State Park OK pic, prefer dam pic above would be a great shot on a sunny fall day |
Bald Eagle at Ricketts Glen State Park Hard to see bird too bad, would be great too see it better |
Waterfall at Ricketts Glen State Park Nice pic, better waterfall pic from McConnells Mill? I think its better than MM really shows the detail in the rock formation ON FROG |
Paddlewheeler Hiawatha at Susquehanna State Park Nice pic, not like others, I took it though it is different, hometown in background, ON FROG |
River view of Susquehanna State Park OK I guess very close to some excellent hoagies and cosmos, |
Pier and boats, Tobyhanna State Park OK I guess - prefer Dincher's Mom's pic of dock at Hills Creek agreed, Hills Creek shows more park less boats |
Composite of three trails in Tobyhanna State Park OK, each pic tiny as thumb, prefer Evansburg path pic too tiny, E-burg way better |
Tobyhanna Creek in Tobyhanna State Park Overcast, we have better lake / creek pics agreed |
Schofield Ford Covered Bridge at Tyler State Park A good picture of the bridge, shows historical connection that many state parks have, some parks were once very busy trading and industrial centers, most have been since reclaimed by nature I like this too, keep ON FROG |
Overlook view of Worlds End State Park very nice, is it good in thumbnail? yeah, I do like the color, no worries ON FROG |
Loyalsock Creek in Worlds End State Park, mine, decent stream pic good geology |
Loyalsock Trail blazes in Worlds End State Park, Mine, not taken anywhere near the park ain't in the park |
I found this on wikipedia commons. It is a featured picture. It is one the waterfall page. |
