[edit] Gay Icon Project

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:13, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC) fhjhj

[edit] Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman

I forget the character's names, but there was a very memorable episode of MH, MH when a character who played a country singer went on Dinah! and said that everyone seemed so nice--despite the fact that Dinah was one of the people "that killed her lord". It was a hoot! Does anyone remember the details?

Ahh Dinah Shore ---------------------

And the rumors of her African ancestry.

"Rumors[citation needed] throughout her career that Shore had African-American ancestry caused her to lose some popularity in the U.S. South during the early 1960s.[citation needed] Yet Shore, with her Dixie drawl and demure manner, was always identified with the South, and guests on her shows often commented on it."

What utter racist BS! Maybe she lost some POPULARITY because they knew she was a JEW! As if being a JEW is some how BETTER than being African-American! REMOVE this BS!

The very fact that the word HAUNTED her career (in reference to her rumors of black ancestry) says it all.

Last time I checked being a Jew in the South would have "HAUNTED" her career as well. I am constantly surprised when I read, see, or hear Jews hoping or pretending to be viewed as European Whites...just as they (in so many ways) participate in the flow of racism against Black Americans.

Being Black or Jew should not detract from a career. However, it does. That's why Jews in America try so in vain to "Pass" as White Europeans (vs. who they REALLY are, Middles Eastern Jews, which is the ethnic origination of all Jews). But, I might be wrong...who knew the reason behind so many nose jobs and bleached hair was to be "Jewish".

I like being a Jew American, and NO I am NOT European nor do I want to be. Rest in peace Dinah with your Jew/African heritage...or whatever. Will this nation EVER get over it's savage obsession with human color?

[edit] Since Her Parents Were Russian Jews...

... it's highly unlikely that she had black ancestry. Come on, she appears to have no black physical features whatsoever, and there are no reliable references stating it, either. This has nothing to do with politics, racism, or whatever. She either did or did not have black ancestry, and in this case, it appears to me that she didn't.
