Dino Chiesa is an experienced Italian karting mechanic, known as the best in the world of Karting. He tuned up shassis for many world champions like, Alessandro Piccini, Giorgio Pantano, Alessandro Manetti, etc. He has a close relation with CRG and Zanardi kart companies.
In an interview to a Portuguese sports newspaper (Autosport) in the world championship at Braga in 2000, he said:
“Kart companies create many different shassis models, basically, to sell equipment. Give me any chassis with three or four years old and I put it to win.”
“The tires are probably the most important. In 125FC, Giorgio Pantano has got pole positions and the quickest laps, even with no experience at all in that category, but burned the tires too early and lost loads of races because of his immaturity to understand the races.”
“Karting it’s a team work. We have young drivers in Junior category, they can’t decide the changes to make, because of their few experience. It's even more stressfull and demanding because I need to make all the decisions for them. With drivers like Piccini we make decisions together. We ponder about all details, and, at the end, the driver makes the last requirements and we make the last adjustments”.
