Dinny Barry-Murphy (1904-1973) was an Irish sportsperson who played hurling with Cork in the 1920s and 1930s.

Dinny Barry-Murphy was born in Cloughdubh, County Cork in 1904. He grew up on the family farm and was educated locally. He received his secondary education at St.Finbarr’s College, Farranferris in Cork, where he played on all the college hurling teams. He later worked with the Cork Farmers Union. Barry-Murphy began his hurling career in 1922 with his local Cloughdubh club. In 1925 he first tasted success when he won an All-Ireland junior hurling medal with Cork. Barry-Murphy’s talent was quickly spotted and he soon made the Cork senior hurling team. In 1926 he won his first National Hurling League medal before later claiming his first Munster Championship and All-Ireland titles. By 1927 Barry-Murphy was playing club hurling with Blackrock. He won his first Cork Senior Hurling Championship title that year having earlier claimed his second Munster title. Cork were then defeated by Dublin in the All-Ireland final. In 1928 Barry-Murphy won his third Munster and his second All-Ireland titles.

By the end of the year he had swithched clubs again, this time to Éire Óg, where he won a second Cork SHC title. This victory allowed Barry-Murphy to become captain of the Cork senior hurlers in 1929. He was an inspired choice to lead the team, as Cork captured further Munster and All-Ireland honours. In 1930 Munster and All-Ireland titles eluded Cork, however, the side did capture the National League once again. Barry-Murphy also had the honour of leading Munster to Railway Cup victory. In 1931 Barry-Murphy had more success with Cork, winning his fifth Munster title as well as his fourth All-Ireland title. By 1932 Barry-Murphy had moved clubs again, this time to St. Finbarr's. He had little success with “the Barr’s” and continued to play with Cork until 1935 when he retired from inter-county hurling. He finished his club career in 1942 with his native Cloughdubh, where he won Cork junior and intermediate hurling titles in 1940 and 1941 respectively. In retirement Barry-Murphy had some success as a greyhound trainer.

Dinny Barry-Murphy died in 1973.
