Talk:Dilation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've heard eye doctors use some form of the word dilate with the word eyes, probably because many more people know the word eyes than know the word pupil (example of a hospital publication that uses "eyes were dilated"[1] , so lets clarify who is likely to specify pupil. [edit] Spelling
I (and lots of clevver people who keep telling me what to do) thought that this word (and it's derivatives) should actually be dilatation, due to the construction of the word from its stem. Going back to the latin may be pedantic, but it works and most published papers and texts I have read at uni use this 'proper' version. I think this should at least be pointed out as an issue of conflict, or changed. -Herb, 22/10/05, 21:08 BST
