Talk:Dilated Peoples
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dilated Peoples is likely a play on dilated pupils... is this true and/or worth mentioning?
- I don't think its really worth mentioning, as it should be somewhat apparant. Carl.bunderson 18:59, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
It is a play on the phrase, dilated pupils...It has to do with the fact that Rakka and Evidence are stoners. Also their "logo" reflects this as it is a figure with 3 eyes on it. They also make references to eyes(e.g. triclops media and 20/20)
No, no, no. It's true that Evidence and Rakka enjoy very much the marijuanna, however this drug does not dilate ones' pupils in the way LSD or methamphetamine does. It makes the eyes bloodshot, but this is a completely different thing. Also, the "logo" alien-looking creature with three eyes is not a reference to ganja - it's a reference to the spiritual concept of the "third eye." ( Triclops is far from their first mention of the concept - see "Triple Optics" from The Platform ) They're using "peer pressure" talking about how they engage in deep though, analysis of the world, and introspection, encouraging their fans to do the same. Far from universal, but this is common in the underground rap community, and has been listed as a reason many groups fail to "break through" to the mainstream. ( see Little Brother - one of their videos was banned from UPN because it was "too intelligent." ) SeattleChronic 22:28, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
This page should mention 'imagery, battle hymns, and politcal poetry', their first album that was never released, but many people have it on bootleg, it had a track with redman that i think was released 213.48.1.28 13:02, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
So we know what triclops media is but what does the reference to "dilated" pupils mean to them. And could the logo have anything to do just with the fact that there are three members in the group? Just an idea.
Another Dilated Peoples song with Defari is "Third Degree". Sorry, I don't know when it was released, but I think it's pre-Platform. Bob McAdoo 06:00, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
