Dilema Veche
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dilema veche ("The Old Dilemma") is a prominent Romanian weekly journal of culture, criticism and opinion.
It was founded as Dilema in 1993 by Andrei Pleşu and up until the end of 2003 it was edited by an independent cultural organisation, "Fundaţia Culturală Română" (Romanian Cultural Foundation). From 1 January 2004, that foundation became known as "Institutul Cultural Român" (Romanian Cultural Institute) and was under the patronage of the presidency and the government. In an effort to maintain a critical position and its independence, the entire editorial team quit the institute and founded a new publication, Dilema Veche, with the financial support of some of its editorialists and of the poet and publicist Mircea Dinescu. He is now the main shareholder due to the period spent by the founder as a member of the new Romanian Presidential staff.
Dilema Veche is one of the few Romanian publications that prides itself for intellectual and political diversity.
