Digital audio recorder

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A digital audio recorder is a device or software for recording digital audio. Most modern computers are capable of this, and various free or low-cost programs have been easily avalibele since the late 1990s.

Digital audio recording has advantages over tape recording, although some purists say that "warmth" can be lost. For speech-quality recordings, such as dictation or lectures, digital generally wins out.
