DIGIC II
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
DIGIC II (DIGital Integrated Circuit version II) is an ASIC made by Canon to perform high speed image-processing and control operations for digital cameras. It improves upon the DIGIC I, by adding a larger buffer and faster processing speed due to improved algorithms. It uses high-speed DDR-SDRAM, which aides in improving startup time and AF speed. Canon claims DIGIC II improves color, sharpness, and automatic white balance with its CMOS sensored DSLR camera line. Also it is found on some advanced, consumer-level cameras such as Canon PowerShot S2 IS and Canon PowerShot S3 IS.
