Differences between the W.I.T.C.H. comic and animated series

There are many differences between the W.I.T.C.H. comic and the animated series. Below are some of the major distinctions between the two formats:

Phobos is not named until some way into the story Phobos is named in the first episode. [1]
Will reveals her secret identity to Matt in the fourth arc Matt accidentally discovers Will's secret identity in the first arc[6]
Elyon would die if her power was drained by Phobos Elyon would be reduced to a black rose if her power was drained by Phobos.[7]
The dormouse has been woken from its hibernation by Uriah, and Will adopted it until its death. The dormouse was a gift from Matt to Will, but she couldn't keep it. It moved to Irma, then to Hay Lin. In the second season it moved to Cornelia, Taranee, Elyon and finally back to Matt.

Nerissa is freed from Mount Thanos after all 5 Aurameres are combined into Cornelia The 5 Aurameres were combined into Cornelia after Nerissa's escape (via a portal between Kandrakar and Meridian) [8]
The Knights of Revenge are Khor, Shagon, Tridart, and Ember. The Knights of Vengeance are Gargoyle, Miranda, Sandpit, The Tracker, and Frost. The Knights of Destruction are Shagon, Khor, Ember and Tridart. [9]
Shagon and Khor are an archaeologist and his dog. Khor and Shagon are Matt Olsen and his pet dormouse Mr. Huggles. [9]
The Guardian's secondary powers develop quickly Cornelia's secondary powers don't develop until shortly after the start of season 2[10], the other Guardians' powers develop the following episode [3]

C.H.Y.K.N. disbands after Cassidy's death C.H.Y.K.N. continues without Cassidy and Nerissa, and disband when the raising of the veil separates Meridian from the the rest of the universe.
Phobos is defeated in the first story arc and returns in the fourth. Phobos is defeated in the first season and returns at the end of the second season. [12]
Napoleon the cat serves only as a background character with no special attributes. Napoleon acquires intelligences and the power of speech after becoming Lilian's familiar. Soon afterwards he becomes a regent of the Heart of Earth and gains the power to transform into a feline version of Khor. [13]

Comic Animation
The Heart of Kandrakar is absorbed into Will's body. The Heart of Kandrakar is kept on a rope around Will's neck. [1]
Susan Vandom wanted to move Will away from Heatherfield because they were having family problems. In the show, she wants to move Will away because her grades are slipping. [14]
Will's father's name is Thomas Vandom. He hires a private investigator following Will's mother in an effort to find information to blackmail her into giving him custody of Will. Will's father's name is Tony Vandom. He wants to remain friends with Will, but does not press for custody [15]

Comic Animation
Irma is unable to animate water from the air; stating: "I can't just wring the stuff out of thin air". But in issue 25 she is now able to generate water as well. Irma is able to animate water from the air. [2]
Anna Lair is Irma's step mother. Anna Lair is Irma's birth mother. [16]
Irma is plump in the comic. Like all the other girls, Irma is thin.

It is stated that she is the most powerful Guardian. Cornelia is shown to be the strongest Guardian as she controls stone, wood and metal but it is never explicitly stated [2]
Taranee is African-Asian. Taranee is African-American. (Though it's shown that her mother looks Asian.) [17]

Comic Animation
Cornelia has known Elyon since second grade. Cornelia has known Elyon since kindergarten. [18]
Cornelia ends her relationship with Caleb once Meridian is freed Cornelia continues her relationship after Meridian is freed [19]

Comic Animation
Hay Lin is the only Guardian who can fly. All of the Guardians can fly, though Hay Lin is the fastest [1]
Hay Lin has knee high socks in guardian form. When she transforms, she has full-length tights.
Hay Lin first sees Eric over summer, after he almost runs her over with his motorbike. Hay Lin first sees Eric when he is waiting for a bus across the street. [20]

Comic Animation
Caleb is not human. He is a Murmurer created through magic. He has pointed ears, green markings on his skin and no family. Caleb is human. He has normal skin and ears, as well as a mother - Nerissa - and a father - Julian.
Caleb sees Cornelia's true form in issues 17, 21 and 23. Caleb sees all the guardian in both of their forms in season 1 episode 2. [21]
Cornelia and Caleb end their relationship, and he becomes involved with Elyon Caleb continues his relationship with Cornelia, and is not romantically involved with Elyon. [19]

Laurent is renamed Clubber
Matt's band is called Cobalt Blue Matt's band is called Wreck 55 [23]
Theresa Cook dislikes Nigel because he snuck into a museum. Theresa Cook dislikes Nigel because he wrote Taranee's name on a statue.
Orube enters W.I.T.C.H as a replacement for Tarannee who left because of her dislike of all the stringing along done by the Oracle. Orube has yet to make an appearance in the animation.
