Difference Of Opinion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

'Difference of Opinion' is an Australian television produced and broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It began at the start of 2007, hosted by ex-60 minutes journalist Jeff McMullen. It is a debating program.

The programme has not been as successful as ABC executives had hoped. The ratings for the programme have averaged around 400 000 viewers, whereas the programme which normally occupies the 9:30pm Monday timeslot, Andrew Denton's Enough Rope, frequently attracts an excess of one million viewers.

The format has also been criticised as, unlike the similar SBS series Insight, Difference of Opinion features the majority of contributions from the 'expert panel', as opposed to the studio audience.

The presence of a newspaper cartoonist has led some to suggest the programme is 'gimmicky'.
