Dieter Kochan was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1974. He is the first player to be called up directly from the UHL to the NHL. He scored a goal for the B.C. Icemen, on January 5, 1999. He was Named to United Hockey League All-Star second team of 1999-2000. He was Member of Calder Cup champion Houston Aeros, 2002-03. He also shared (with Wade Dubielewicz) the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Trophy (AHL - fewest goals against) in 2003-04.
