Die Jüdin von Toledo

  • Is a literary work done by German-Jewish writter Lion Feuchtwanger. This particular story focuses on the time period of the "Golden Age" of learning in medieval Spain. It's also a novel that seems to describe the affair of Alfonso VIII with a jewess named Raquel in the great city of Toledo. The story seemed to be inspired by earlier scripts for in Lion Feuchtwanger's prologue to the story there is a brief mention that the ballad was originally written by Alfonso X of Castile in regards of his Great-Grandfather (Alfonso VIII).
