Die Glücklichen Musiker - "The Happy Musicians"

This performing group typically are performing in Richmond, VA it's home base and many public venues in the surrounding states. The music is decidedly Polish/German with the influence of Dixieland Jazz and a mix of other genres. The fresh "new sound" is a POLKA proficienado’s dream! The Polish people are known for a great deal of the music and culture of early North America... Pennsylvania, Texas, Minnesota and now Virginia, have embraced the style as well as the early Americana - folk music! The volkslieder of Germany is by, in large from the Polish influence in Austria, founded by Polish immigrants that brought their music with them.

Perhaps, there is not enough we can thank the Polish people for:

A style of music The Accordion - The early flute and piccolo - The many recipes for the potato - The meat sausage recipes and blended meat products - Language - Humor - Perseverance - and - Our Heritage - German

After 1945 the language of German began to disappear, and the government began to establish other culture a way of living and its people. Perhaps by Rebuilding old monuments, officially revisiting the accepted German and Polish place names or signage in two languages, may stir or initiate the acceptance of the expelled and banished Polish minorities. There are so many cultural ideals focused on ignoring the culture and people; many Polish-Americans embrace the minority, a position taken as a badge of valor, as they should, they are a culture that abandoned everything and came to America in search of the American dream. German culture has persevered in music and the mix of the cultural foods, and these gatherings of The Oktoberfest!

German and Polish relationships have strengthened in these later generations, a sense of good food and fun is a driving force! We are the second and third generations of the Polish, German, Latvian and Czech, all banded together in this group of "Happy Musicians" being friends and college mates here in Richmond, Virginia USA, we provide the public with the same German and European music, here in America.

Music is the universal "melting pot" of our culture, the glue that binds our society. As musicians and music professionals, all members of our group together as performers, teachers, private instructors, composer/arrangers, or music society members, have formed the "Happy Musicians" to entertain and teach the same; bringing cultures back together that have been separated for 50 years.
