Richard Simon "Dick" Burns (December 26, 1863 - November 16, 1937) was a 19th century Major League Baseball pitcher. Burns was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
After playing one season with the Detroit Wolverines, he jumped to the Union Association, along with many other Major League Baseball players, and had a very good year. He compiled a 23-15 record and a 2.56 ERA for the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds. On August 26, 1884 he pitched a no-hitter against the Kansas City Cowboys, the first of only two no-hitters pitched in that league. The league merged with the National League after that year and Dick moved on to the St. Louis Maroons, pitching only one game in relief in his final big league season.
Burns died in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He was laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke.[1]
