English: This diagram represents a Diagonal system of control, the system of positioning used by match officials in football (soccer). The two assistant referees (AR, path in blue) each patrol half of a single touchline on opposite sides of the field. Meanwhile, the referee (R, path in red) patrols the length of the field in a diagonal pattern.
