Diamantino Miranda

Diamantino Manuel Fernandes Miranda (born in Moita, 3 August 1959), known just by Diamantino as a player, and Diamantino Miranda (pron. IPA: [diɐmɐ̃'tinu mi'ɾɐ̃dɐ]) as a manager, was a Portuguese football player who played for Boavista FC and SL Benfica. He one of Benfica's key players during the 1980s, winning several titles of National Champion and the Cup of Portugal. He also played at the UEFA Cup finals, in 1983, lost to Anderlecht (0-1 and 1-1). He missed the Champions Cup final in 1988, due to an injury.
He had 22 caps for the Portugal national football team, from 18 November 1981, in a 2-1 win over Scotland, in the World Cup qualifyings, to 11 July 1986, at the 1-3 lost to Morocco, in the World Cup finals, scoring 5 goals. He was a member of the squads that played at the Euro 1984 finals and at the World Cup 1986 finals. He left Benfica in 1989/90, moving to Vitória Setúbal.
He is currently Varzim S.C. manager, having been appointed on 02 February 2007.
