Diário de Notícias

Diário de Notícias is an historical Portuguese daily newspaper, founded in Lisbon, on December 29, 1864 by Tomás Quintino Antunes and Eduardo Coelho. It gradually became one of the best known Portuguese newspapers.
During the 1870s and 1880s the novelist Eça de Queiroz, then stationed in England in the Portuguese diplomatic service, contributed occasional "London letters" to the newspaper. Some of these were afterwards published in book form as Cartas de Inglaterra.
