A quick note: when you create new articles, try not to give them too-generic titles. Wikipedia is a general encyclopedia, so an entry like Yearly maintenance should refer to yearly maintenance of absolutely anything you care to name. Creating such an article and talking about only bicycles is rather confusing. I renamed that article to Yearly bicycle maintenance, but it's something you might want to be aware of in future. Thanks, --Morven 03:21, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Please note the highlighting convention: the title word or title phrase is highlighted at its first appearance in an article, like this. Someone took care of this in storm drain. 134.84.86.55 17:36, 24 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Thanks for your note about Fay Wray. I don't live in Toronto, so if a star for Fay Wray isn't there, please revert my change. I was basing my change on information from a CTV news report dated 8.9.2004. If that information's wrong, I'm wrong. ffirehorse 05:17, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Bicycle
Thanks for the helpful edits ... as opposed to the goofy stuff that often appears as I try to buff this up to "feature" status. this is a tough one, since everyone demands a "world view" of something I know mostly from an American viewpoint. Sfahey 18:14, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Image
Thanks, I forgot to put the GPL note. I made the image, so I give it to the public domain. --Gengiskanhg 23:15, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] copy of talk from Medicare (response) plus emphasis on additional concerns
No problem...i cut and paste to the word processor to try and find spelling errors or typo's (someone finally suggeted it to me after a month or so). It looks good. I'm still concerned about the 98% statistic. I think it is wrong, and i study this kind of thing (as an activist). Where do we bring it if we think a statistic is wrong so tht it will get publicly posted so more people will see it and maybe it can be fixed...i'm putting this on your talk page too in case you miss this...i've also done some more work on the page. The reorganization of reforms was nice if you did it. (well nice regardless)
Than 98% of hospital costs covered isn't right...it goes with the term lies damn lies and statistics (and i did university statistics). It depends on what they are calling medical costs. I want this challenged and some type of discussion to occur on what stats to use or at least say what the statistics include...i know you aren't the one who put it in (from what i can tell anyway) but you've been here longer than me so i thought you might have some idea on what to do about it. My talk page is waiting <wink>--Marcie 18:11, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Kryptonite design
I appreciate the information you added to Kryptonite lock, but I don't like the phrase "Until recently". Someone might be reading it ten years from now. Would it be correct to say that, until 2004, most Kryptonite locks used that design? JamesMLane 21:58, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Toronto meets
I just stumbled across the meets, which is apparently taking place tonight one major street away from me. I don't see any RSVPs on the web page though. Did anyone show up? Do they generally RSVP or not? Maury 02:07, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Bringing Wikipedia to Toronto
I've been working on a bid to bring Wikimania 2006 to Toronto. I have contacted KMDI, an institute at the University of Toronto. They are very interested in partnering with us, and can get us a full range of U of T facilities for free. With this offer I think there is a very good chance of bringing Wikimania 2006 to Toronto. The only thing we currently lack are people willing to help out. I'm willing to do much of the work, but for the time being I am in Ottawa and having some people on the ground in Toronto will be necessary. We also need a number of people willing to assist at the actual event, likely the first weekend of August 2006. If you are interested in helping out sign up at Wikimania 2006/Toronto. Preliminary bids from various cities need to be made by Sept. 30, 2005, at which point a committee will choose which city gets to host the event. The number of people willing to help will certainly be an important consideration. - SimonP 16:24, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimania meeting tommorrow
Hello, and thanks for signing up at Wikimania_2006/Toronto. It has been announced that there will be a half hour meeting on the Wikimania IRC channel tomorrow October 2, at 20:00 UST (4:00 pm EST) to pick the 3 city shortlist. It would be great if you could attend. Also these are our last hours to ensure that our bid at Wikimania_2006/Toronto is as good as it can be, so any improvements to it would also be useful. There are now four cities in the running, so tomorrow one is getting cut. - SimonP 20:48, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Winter Garden.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Winter Garden.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use article name or fairuse. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Romeo Bravo 02:51, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Canada
Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 04:16, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Junius
Hi Dhodges,
Wikipedia is completely new to me so please forgive if I make a blunder.
One of my areas of interest is who wrote the Letters of Junius. In 2004 you added the first article on Junius from an old Encyclopedia Britannica. I plan to add much to that article which is very outdated and biased against Junius. Anyone reading his letters from scratch would not draw the conclusions presented.
I am curious to know what interests you may have in Junius? What made you type out that article? How do I make contact with anyone wanting to discuss this topic?
Cheers Eltharian
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valley book shop
Since you were the second one to prod it, I thought you'd like to know that Valley book shop is now at AfD. I'm guessing you didn't notice it had been prodded before, but if you did, please note that because prod is for uncontroversial deletions only, it should never be reinstated after someone objects by removing the tag. I simply deprodded it when I saw this, but a third person proposed it for deletion, so I moved it to AfD. NickelShoe 16:35, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian Healthcare
Thanks for pointers for Hospital for Sick Children (giving rise to these further edits).
Whilst all Ontario hospitals presumeably covered by such scheme, are there equivalents for the other Canadian provinces, or is this type of public cover unique to Ontario ? The template updates were to try and allow a little less US-centric focus and allow some greater flexibility - however I do not know the specifics outside of US & UK to tweak the template (either the template itself or the explanation page to give some useful links for editors to consider using) :-) David Ruben Talk 19:08, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing out the table Medicare (Canada)#List of provincial programs. For the UK, I expect all public hospitals will point to the overall NHS rather than to NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, Health and Care NI. Likewise do you think it would be better, especially given that 8 out of the 10 Provinces's locally named schemes are red-links, for all Canadian hospitals to point to just Medicare (Canada) ? (If HealthCare='Medicare' it will point to the correct page for Australis/Canada/US). David Ruben Talk 09:20, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, as only 2 Ontarians (? is that the correct term) offered direct help with the upgraded Template:Infobox Hospital implementation, it seemed only fair to apply the new template across all hospitals listed in 'Category:Hospitals in Ontario' and its sub-categories first :-) If you find any errors, please fix :-) David Ruben Talk 21:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
