Dhoom 2 (Hindi: धूम 2, Urdu: ٢ ﺩﻬﻭﻡ, Tamil: தூம் 2) is a 2006 Bollywood film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. It stars Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Uday Chopra. The movie is a sequel to the 2004 hit, Dhoom. The film was released on November 24, 2006. This movie has been dubbed into Telugu and Tamil; those versions were released on the same day as the Hindi-Urdu version.

The film is Gadhvi's fourth directorial venture after Tere Liye (2000), Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002), and Dhoom (2004), and his third with Yash Raj Films. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Pritam and lyrics were penned by Sameer. Cinematographers were Vikas Sivaraman and Nirav Shah; the film was edited by Rameshwar S. Bhagat. The film was shot partially in-studio, in India, and also on location in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Durban, South Africa.

The film is also noteworthy because its soundtrack is the first in India to be released in DVD-Audio, along with other audio formats.[1]

The film has sparked controversy for a scene containing a kiss, and a court case is currently pending in India. [2]

[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The police are baffled by a master thief known only as Mr. A (Hrithik Roshan) because he leaves an 'A' symbol after each robbery. Mr. A steals the English crown by sky diving onto a train, disguising himself as the queen, stealing the crown, and escaping.

He is pursued by ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan), ACP Shonali Bose (Bipasha Basu), and policeman Ali (Uday Chopra). They try to catch him in the act as he robs a Mumbai museum, but fail.

Mr. A, in the meantime, is caught by the wiles of Sunehri (Aishwarya Rai), who claims to be Mr. A's number-one fan. He agrees to take her into partnership, not knowing that she is actually working for the police.

Mr. A and Sunehri fly to Copacabana, where Mr. A plans another big heist. The police officers, Jai and Ali, follow. Mr. A., who has trusted Sunehri with his life, finds out that she is working against him and accuses her of treachery. She then realizes that she loves him and joins him in earnest. Their heist is a success; their escape less so. It seems that Mr. A has been killed.

His death turns out to have been a trick. Mr. A and Sunehri re-appear, running a small restaurant on a tropical island in Fiji. A few months later, Jai tracks them down. After they return the stolen goods, Jai realizes that they have made restitution and taken up honest work, and that no good will be served by arresting them. He walks away from the restaurant and sets off on his next case.

Spoilers end here.
