Dhond

Dhond Abbasi is the most populated and large martial tribe of the Murree hills and Circle Bakote. Dhond Abbasi are the offspring of Hadhrat Abbas, an uncle of Muhammad.

Traditionally it was the law of any tribe or country in this area, that when a person went missing, a professional detector (Khoji) searched for him. The person who worked as a Dectector for the King was called Dhond Khan. His real name was Shah Wali. His offspring was called the Dhond Abbasi tribe. Dhond Abbasies came to India with the forces of Mahmood of Gazni in 1023 AD. They also came to India as traders and merchants from Egypt and then exported commodities like fabrics, perfumes and diamonds. They established a colony near Delhi in 1232 AD. Sardar Tolak Khan who came to Kashmir in the time of first Kashmiri king Budh Saha, was known as Zain-ul-Aabedin and settled in Ponch now the Bagh district of Azad Kashmir.
