Dharma Seal Temple

Dharma Seal Temple (法印寺, Fa Yin Si) is one of the large Buddhist monasteries and Buddhist temples in the United States. It is located in the suburb of Rosemead, California. It mainly attracts Taiwanese, Chinese, Cantonese, and Vietnamese Buddhists.
The original Dharma Seal Temple was founded in the city of Monterey Park, before relocating the temple to an abandoned church, which was opened in 1993. Upon realizing the temple could not hold the now-growing amount of laity, the temple began expanding the temple grounds, building a new main hall as well as a new underground parking lot. The current temple consists of two halls, a library, cafeteria, and dorm rooms for monks and nuns.
The Chinese-born Elder Venerable Yin Hai, a prominient disciple of Venerable Master Yin Shun, is the founder and was abbot of the temple from 1977 to 2005. He transferred the abbotship to Venerable Hong Zheng, his closest disciple, upon the temple's opening.
