Dhani Makalani Jones (born February 22, 1978, in San Diego, California) is a linebacker in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles.

[edit] High school career

As a senior at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland, Dhani Jones was an All-Area, All-Western Region, and an All-City pick, and also was ranked the fifth best linebacker prospect in the Atlantic Coast Region. His jersey has been retired.

At the University of Michigan, Dhani Jones was a three time All-Big 10 honoree. Lined up at strong side linebacker as a senior in 1999, he finished second on the team with 81 tackles. As a junior, started at linebacker, and finished with 72 tackles. As a sophomore, started nine games at linebacker and finished second on the team with 90 tackles and six sacks. He played alongside Heisman trophy winner Charles Woodson.

During his college years at the University of Michigan, Dhani sold bicycles at Great Lakes Cycling & Fitness, a bicycle store in Ann Arbor. While there, he had a custom Salsa mountain bike built as his personal bicycle.

[edit] Professional Career and Extracurriculars

Jones was drafted in the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Giants in the 6th round (177th Overall Pick). He was a 2004 Philadelphia Eagles free agent acquisition from the New York Giants. As an NFL player Jones has shown a variety of skills off the field as well as continuing to play at a high level as a starter for both the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. He founded a company that sells high-end bowties and also writes movie reviews and commentary for Page2 on ESPN.com. He hosted the ESPN2 show Timeless. For the 2006 Playoffs, Dhani was a correspondent for the NFL Network. On May 31, 2006, Dhani was the guest speaker at the graduation for the class of 2006 at his former high school, Winston Churchill High School.

Jones was arrested on March 26, 2006, in Miami, Florida. He was charged with "failure to obey a lawful command" after he refused police orders to stop dancing in the street outside a South Beach nightclub, the Snatch Rock & Roll Bar and Lounge. Others who were dancing at the same location complied with the police orders, and were not arrested. [2]
