[edit] Free OS?
Because of the additions to this article (thanks jas20), I am concerned about titling this a 'free' operating system. Free Software, as defined by the Free Software Foundation is software, sometimes under a GPL lisence, that can be distributed and modified by any user. Upon searching the Dex4u website I cannot find a working link for source (perhaps there is one in the forums?)
PS good job on the OS, it has really moved a lot where v2_os is just sitting there with jmony and his great ideas.

Ok the following quotes should answer the source question:
RedGhost: "Went to take a look at the source code, the download link seems to be down."
Dex: "Yes that because, Dex4u is being reorganised, and will not be 100% compatable with the old Dex4u OS, so the new code will be released in about 2-3 weeks, if you still want the old code PM me and i send a link, that goes for anyone else." (http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=5192)
So you can get it by asking him for it. There isn't exactly a license, but Dex4u is indeed Free and somewhat Open source.

I was very wrong about the licensing:
Dex: "This is wrong and will be changed, the only GPL code is the tcp/ip stack (converted from menuet) which is not a part of the Dex4u kernel32, but a add on, driver. " (http://jas2o.forthworks.com/dexforum/index.php?topic=137.msg1244#msg1244)
I heard that it contained V2_OS stuff, they must have been taken out. So I will edit it now... --Jas2o 05:28, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- I actually like the new lisencing scheme. It allows the full rights of Free software but restricts them to people only wanting to contribute. If Wine did something like this, transgaming would use less of their (currently LGPL) code.

[edit] Acronym is it?
Dex4u (as a whole word) isn't an acronym. But the 'Dex' part is... --Jas2o 06:29, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think I reworded it to better fit Dustin 15:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Adding an article on higher level languages
I understand Dex4u has a Forth port and the C libraries are always making their way to Dex4u. Why not make a section about this?

The Dex4u team has been trying to get other programmers in, so go ahead! --Jas2o 03:35, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism... Is it fair?
Can you explain why you put this in here? What is so bad about not having multitasking?
IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO BE A SINGLE TASKING OS. IT IS NOT WINDOWS.
How the hell can you write this when Dex4u is suppost to be the way it is, and is still a work in progress?
--Jas2o 04:34, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I tried to write that section to be nuetral, I know Dex isnt a multi tasking OS, and I stated so. Personally I like the idea of a non-multi tasking OS. It is ideal for writing games and possibly emulators for. I apologize if my wording was misinterpretted, and will remove/reword it if necessary. I only added it to allow people who view this article know that people do criticize this OS because it has no multitasking, if you read the rest you notice I state Dex isnt supposed to have multitasking and only bigots (I did not directly say bigots, as that would be POV) would criticize it based on that. My apologies..

[edit] Lacking Importance?
Can someone PLEASE tell me how it is lacking importance?
I didn't tag it and would like to know WHY it has been tagged, and some recommendations to fix it?
DexOS in my opinion IS important as the world needs to know about this amazing, operating system.
If no one replies, I will remove the tag my self.
