Hi Devashanti,
Glad to see you're getting involved. I'd like to applaud your disclosing your relationship with one of the subjects you intend to write about – something that far too few Wikipedia editors do, in my view. You may want to take a look at the page regarding conflicts of interest – which does not prohibit you from editing a page, as some might claim, but contains some helpful suggestions.
Please consider joining WikiProject Oregon, and its sub-project on Politics and Government. We have a good group of editors currently focused on Oregon-related pages, and can always use more help and fresh perspectives.
