Devil Without a Cause was Kid Rock's breakthrough album. It was released in 1998 by Atlantic Records and produced by John Travis. This album has been certified 11 times Platinum by the RIAA (As from April 17th, 2003).The song 'Bawitdaba' was part of the rap-rock explosion of the late '90s.

Notes: There is a clean version of the album, which removes most of the profanity and innuendo, as well as the songs Fuck Off, and Black Chick, White Guy. Both versions feature a reprise of I Am the Bullgod as a hidden track.
- On the edited copy of the CD, the cover of the CD itself is all black with the name "Kid Rock" at the top. The original, un-edited cover of the CD which is photo of a big middle finger.

- "Cowboy" was featured in the films Shanghai Noon and Ready to Rumble, both released in 2000. A remix of the song was used by wrestler Jeff Jarrett during his career on World Championship Wrestling's final days.
- "Bawitdaba" was featured in the 2006 film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The song was also used in the series premiere of the FX Networks show The Shield.
- This CD is the first Kid Rock CD with an edited version available.
