Devekut

Devekut or dvekus (Heb. דבקות "clinging on" to God). The Hebrew word for glue is דבק devek which is the root for devekut.

It is used in a spiritual and religious context, particular within Hasidic Judaism to describe the goal for a Jew during Jewish prayer or when performing the 613 mitzvot (the "commandments"): devekus, meaning "cleaving" or "attaching oneself" to G-d in all areas of life. This term is often used to refer to a deep, trance-like meditative state, most often attained in prayer.
