Devaneya Pavanar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Devaneya Pavanar(மொழி ஞாயிறு, ஞா. தேவநேயப் பாவாணர்), born on February 7, 1902, was prominent in the annals of 20th century Tamil literature. He wrote over 35 books, which provided insight into variety of facts and highlighted the significant contributions made by various literary stalwarts. His masterpieces included Oppiyal MozhiNool and Verchol Katturaigal. Pavanar composed some noteworthy poems, including the collection of 'Venpa.' He was conferred Senthamizh Selvar title by the Tamil Nadu State Government in 1979.
And he was also conferred Mozhi Gnayiru means Sun of language.
Pavanar dedicated his full span of life for the cause of research in Tamil. Neither poverty nor laziness hindered his intellectual advancement. Even nights have become days for him. He strove to establish Tamil as the progenitor of the languages of man. It was a matter of surprise when the scientists came forward to split the atom. Now it has become still a matter of much more surprise when Pavanar came forward to split the root of words till the origin of human speech. His work Verccol Katturaigal speaks volumes about it.
Poet Bharathidasan hails Pavanar as the King of all Tamils(எந்தமிழர் எல்லார்க்கும் வேந்து) This is no exaggeration since Pavanar's long and dedicated research for more than five decades was focussed on the proud heritage of the Tamilians. It was his consistent endeavour throughout his life to establish that Tamil was a highly developed classical language of the Lemurian origin.
Devaneya Pavanar His Primary Classical language of the World is an eyeopener for the linguists regarding the mother tongue of man. He has done a signal service to all philologists and especially the etymologists. His work is a model for others to emulate. That is why the Cultural Heritage of India (Vol.IV,p.641) edited by the renowned National Professor Sunit Kumar Chatterji, speaks, "....... but for his (Pavanar's) efforts the purity and antiquity of Tamil might have been a muth".

[edit] Writings and Research works on Tamil
Devaneya Pavanar wrote more than 35 books and all of them have become the treasure trove of Tamil. His Vadamoli Varalaru vividly traces hundreds of Sanskrit words of their Tamil origin and at the same time he never failed to give pure Tamil equivalents for Sanskrit loan words.
And also he gave plenty of evidences to prove Tamil is more superior and divine language than Sanskrit.

[edit] Primary Classical Language of the World
This is PREFACE from the book Primary Classical Language of the World by Devaneya Pavanar.
There is no other language in the whole world as Tamil, that has suffered so much damage by natural and human agencies, and has been done so much injustice by malignant foreigners and native dupes.
The general belief that all arts and sciences are progressively advancing with the passage of time, is falsified in the case of philology, owing to the fundamental blunder of locating the original home of the Tamilians in the Mediterranean region, and taking Sanskrit, a post-Vedic semi-artificial composite literary dialect, the Indian Esperanto, so to speak, for the prototype of the Indo-European Form of Speech.
Westerners do not know as yet, that Tamil is a highly developed classical language of Lemurian origin, and has been, and is being still, suppressed by a systematic and co-ordinated effort by the Sanskritists both in the public and private sectors, ever since the Vedic mendicants migrated to the South, and taking utmost advantage of their superior complexion and the primitive credulity of the ancient Tamil kings, posed themselves as earth-ly gods (Bhu-suras) and deluded the Tamilians into the belief, that their ancestral language or literary dialect was divine or celestial in origin.
After the independent discovery of Sanskrit by Sir William Jones in 1796, the situation of Tamil became worse, as the Max Mulleri-an school exclusively devoted its attention to Sanskrit studies, and blindly believing the Sanskrit records, promoted and propa-gated them far and wide, and thereby gave a fresh impetus to the Sanskritists' continuation of their ancestral crimes of impos-ture, plagiarism and indirect vandalism.
Even Dr.Caldwell's researches in Dravidian philology, though conducted in the heart of the Tamil country for about half a century, could not improve the situation to any appreciable degree, owing to his inaccessibility to the extant ancient Tamil literature and unfavourable obsessions.
Erroneous theories and principles adopted in any branch of science or department of literature have to be discarded forth-with and outright, in the interest of human enlightenment, however deep-seated and long-entertained they may be in the minds of authors and scholars.
The Aryan suppression of Tamil does not stop with itself, but affects the growth of three other branches of study of widest human interest, viz., World History, Comparative Philology and Cultural Anthropology. Sanskrit has usurped the throne of Tamil by fraudulent means, and unless Tamil is restored to its prestine glory, there is no future for it.
It is high time that the Western Universities particularly the West German University, realised their colossal error, at least at this stage, and give Tamil its due place in Comparative Philolo-gy. It also behoves the Western Publishers, to bring out revised and expurgatory editions of their publications dealing with South Indian History and Dravidian Philology, as early as possible, in the light of recent research.
The present work, embodying the results of my research in Compar-ative Philology in general and Dravidian Philology at particular, conducted for the past forty years, purports to prove that Old or Lemurian Tamil was not only the parent of the Dravidian family of languages, but also the progeniter of the Indo-European Form of Speech.
I have great pleasure in expressing my unbounded gratitude to the members of the Kodai Vallal KARUNAITTIRU HARIRAM SAIT Commemoration Committee, who have kindly come forward to publish this work, which had remained idle in manuscript form for the past six years owing to lack of funds, and also in construing this kind act of theirs as a posthumous gift of the munificent patron of Mukkudal, who has passed away prematurely in the prime of life.
I also thank heartily, Mr.A.N.Sambandam, Proprietor of the Press of his name, for having executed the printing of this philologi-cal work neatly, with the necessary diacritical marks and within the time specified.
"Nothing comes fairer to light than that what has been long hidden." "Oil and truth will get uppermost at last."
G. Devaneyan. Katpadi Extension, 21-3-2066.
