[edit] Number of species

This page should say how many species are in this division. --Savant13 14:14, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] General

It's in much better shape now. Since this "phylum" is obsolete, I don't feel it needs a photo or much further information. It should be more like a redirect page. A few issues remain:

  • It is not worth developing articles on the obsolete classification within the group, so internal links to nonexistent articles could be removed from the Historical section.
  • There should be prominent outgoing links to the pages on mould, Ascomycota, and Basidiomycota.
  • Elsewhere there is a category called Deuteromycetes that should go away.
  • We should dispense with Deuteromycota in taxoboxes (e.g. Cladosporium). We need to differentiate anamorph from teleomorph names because teleomorph names take precedence when known. Can we agree on a convention for anamorph taxoboxes? We need some way to indicate that Penicillium, for e.g., is an anamorph or form genus.
