[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Cuddy bets a month's clinic duty that House can't stay off of Vicodin for a week, while House is trying to find out why a teenage car crash victim won't stop bleeding.

The patient's bleed started prior to the accident, but three weeks after the crash it still hasn't subsided. Combined with internal bleeding, the patient has is hemolytic anemia, which is uncommon in 16 year olds as it is. House lists off many causes for the condition but everything has been ruled out, he summons his team to his office to try and save the boy's life.

Then Foreman and Chase run through a series of tests, leaving Cameron to ask all the medical history questions. Nothing comes out positive which baffles everyone further. A blood clot in his left eye causes the team to look for an infection, which again yields nothing. Chase recommends removing some fluid from his eye to relieve the clot, which works, but the boy's liver damage leads the team to settle on a rare form of hepatitis.

Before the treatment can be administrated, the patient has hallucinations about his deceased cat. The father is too angry at House to listen to the explanations, especially when they find that the boy will need a liver transplant if he is to survive. Still unconvinced of the Lupus diagnosis, House sends Foreman and Chase to dig up the family cat. House performs a necropsy on the cat, finding the cause of the cat's death as well as what's affecting the boy. The final diagnosis is naphthalene poisoning, brought on by a swarm of termites living within the walls of the boy's bedroom.
