Brittany Lynnette Spears (born September 13, 1988) is a bluegrass singer from Beattyville, Kentucky who is portrayed in the semiautographical movie Born Too Late.

Spears is the lead singer of the Spears Family Band, which includes three brothers: Bunch on the mandolin, Bradshaw on the washboard, and Blanton playing the guitar. Blanton Spears, Sr., the father, is also the business manager and sometimes plays the drum.

Bridget McPooh, an actress and television host, has had Spears on as a guest several times on her Coast to Coast talk show on the Rebel television network. In 2006, she optioned Spears' story for the upcoming movie in which Spears is seen dealing with the ridicule of concert promoters, media members, and even family, as a result of sharing (almost) her name with Britney Spears and for choosing to stay in the same profession as her. The title is derived from a comment Brittany L. Spears made to the Lexington Herald-Leader that "I guess that I was born too late. If I were around a few years earlier, I would have been the Brittany Spears of the industry and none of this would have happened."[1]

In late 2006, Spears took a leave of absence from the band to pursue a solo career. She is close to a deal with NASCAR driver/entertainer Buddy Wayne Barefoot for his Little Boy Records label[2]. In the meantime, Spears will also appear on I Am the American Idol, a talent contest series scheduled to air on Rebel starting in June 2007. She will portray season 5 contestant Kellie Pickler.
