I'm a Hong Kong born Brazilian with some knowledge about American and Canadian Culture.

I currently live in Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, New York, Montréal, São Paulo.

Contents

[edit] Todo

- Rewrite the Culture of Brazil and expand it.
- Learn more languages (Finnish and Spanish + improving my French and English)
- Create a page about Laakso, the Swedish-Finnish indie band.

[edit] What I've done

2006/10/06 University of Sao Paulo - I added more information about the admission section.
2006/10/06 Culture of Brazil - Reverted some vandalism in that and other articles.
2006/10/06 Culture of Brazil - Added Cuisine and Religion sections.

[edit] Why I am here?

I was reading the Culture of Brazil and I was very annoyed with its bad English. The text's grammar was a Brazilian Portuguese with English words.

Some examples:

From the first paragraph, "Certain denominations (algumas denominações) of Christianity, such as Pentecostalism, Methodism, and the Baptist church have also gained a large following (também ganhou muitos seguidores)." They do not make sense in English!

First paragraph of Curiosities section, "There is a folk exception (exceção popular) for the people from Minas Gerais." What is a folk exception?

Second paragraph of Curiosities section, "The very wealthy (os mais ricos) tend to seclude themselves." In English, we cannot hide or miss the subject or use adjectives as subjects of the phrase. I would write that phrase like this: Most wealthy people/The wealthier ones tend to segregate themselves from the others.

Besides that, I’d like to expand the article including music, TV, movie, people, folklore, food, festivities, and more! There are so many things to be shown.
