"Desperate Measures" is an episode from Season 5 of the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1.
[edit] Plot
Major Carter is kidnapped by unknown persons. SG-1 suspects NID. O'Neill contacts Maybourne, who denies responsibility and points the finger at Simmons. O'Neill contacts Simmons, who also denies responsibility and points the finger back at Maybourne.
SG-1 learns that Maybourne has been the recipient of 3 Million dollars from a numbered offshore account, and who owns the account.
O'Neill learns through Maybourne that he had arranged to obtain a Goa'uld symbiote from a Russian SG team for a purpose unknown to Maybourne.
A wealthy businessman purchases a Goa'uld symbiote to heal his life-threatening (immuno-deficiency) condition, and has been living in a decommissioned hospital for several years.
SG-1 and the local authorities surround the hospital and prepare to rescue Carter (who they now believe to be in there).
In the hospital, the Goa'uld symbiote is implanted with a business man in restraints. The doctors leave to dissect Carter's brain (so they can learn how to remove it). Just as the doctors are about to deliver their coup-de grace on Carter, O'Neill and Maybourne come in and stop the procedure.
Meanwhile the symbiote left its host believing he is still in control until he sweet-talks his executive assistant into releasing the hard-restraints. The consequences of this are immediate. The Goa'uld escapes. SG-1 begins scouring the hospital for the Goa'uld.
O'Neill corners the Goa'uld in the basement, however, Simmons shoots him in the back (arm really, as the vest protected his torso). Simmons then takes the Goa'uld to one of NIDs facilities for his own purposes.
Carter finds O'Neill in the basement, and its later learned that Maybourne also managed to escape the hospital.
